Cloud Strife

Cloud was born in the town of Nibelheim,and grew up as an unpopular child with Tifa as his only real friend. As a teenager, he moved to Midgar to join SOLDIER, but could not make it any farther than Shinra guard. However, as even as a lowly Shinra guard he still received a chance at adventure. He and his friend Zack, a member of SOLDIER, were among those chosen to accompany the hero Sephiroth on a mission to the Nibelheim reactor. Tifa served as their guide on Mount Nibel, but Cloud, perhaps ashamed that he did not make it as high as he had promised her, never revealed his identity to her.
In the reactor, Sephiroth found the mutant soldiers Shinra was creating with Mako. Wondering if he, too, had been created this way, he went to the Shinra mansion to do some research. Upon discovering he was created with Jenova cells, he went insane, burning Cloud's hometown and almost all of the people inside it. Both Tifa and Zack made attempts at Sephiroth's life, but failed and instead got themselves hurt. However, when Cloud ran after Sephiroth, he somehow managed to throw him into the lifestream, although not without receiving injuries himself.
Zack and Cloud,lying unconscious, were discovered by Shinra and taken to the Shinra Mansion for experiments. After a while, they escaped, and decided to look for work in Midgar. However, upon their arrival they were attacked by Shinra soldiers, and Zack was killed. Cloud took Zack's sword, and from then on assumed his friend's identity, imitating Zack so well that even Cloud himself began to believe it. He was discovered by his old friend Tifa at the Sector 7 train station, and agreed to join AVALANCHE at her request...
